Holidaymakers travelling to Faro, Portugal have been hit with extreme delays after alleged staff shortages.
Tourists have been met with three hour delays for flights as e-Gates are reportedly not working.
Social media users have even claimed people have passed out while waiting in vain to travel.
One X user, Yvette Hughes challenged airline Jet2 over the delays, asking: ‘What the hell is going on. 3 and a half hours queeing through security @FaroAirport.
‘My knees are swollen, someone has passed out, children are crying.’
She also said she had not received ‘a bit’ of information from anyone.
Jet2 responded to the tweet, saying: ‘We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. However, the same has been forwarded to us for a quick action.
‘Kindly send us a direct message and we will update you at earliest and accordingly.’
However, Yvette later shared she had received no update: ‘Still queueing and no reply. 4 hours.’
Jet2 has blamed a staff shortage at Faro Airport for the delays, replying to another disgruntled customer to explain: ‘We apologise for the long queues on arrival today, which is beyond our control.
‘This is due to the lack of local immigration staff at Faro Airport.’
This disruption comes as UK travellers have faced major delays with 45 miles of queues on the M6 motorway earlier this Easter weekend.
Around two million Brits were set to fly away this weekend, with Bristol, Edinburgh and Newcastle airports predicting record numbers of passengers.
